Gazprom personnel evacuated from Libya.



MOSCOW, February 23 (Itar-Tass) - Gazprom personnel has been fully
evacuated from Libya, a Company official has told Itar-Tass.
Eighteen staff members of Gazprom and members of their families have
managed to leave the Libyan capital Tripoli for Dubai by a regular flight.
They are currently in the United Arab Emirates already, the Company
official specified. He also pointed out that a GazpromAvia plane, which
was heading for Tripoli to evacuate Gazprom personnel, proved unable to
land in Libya and landed in Malta instead.
The plane's return has been delayed now, for it may be used to
evacuate Russian Federation citizens who are still remaining in Libya.

.Four RME planes arrive in Libya to evacuate Russians.

MOSCOW, February 23 (Itar-Tass) - Another two planes of the Russian
Ministry for Emergencies (RME), IL-62 and Yak - 42, have landed at Tripoli
airport to evacuate Russian citizens from Libya. So, all the four RME
planes have arrived in the Jamahiriyah forevacuation purposes, an official
at the RME information department has told Itar-Tass.
In all, 405 people are to be evacuated from the capital of Libya to
the Russian Federation.
It is also planned to evacuated Russians from two other Libyan cities
by ferry which is to leave Montenegro for Libya on Wednesday.

.Hague tribunal to pass sentence on Vlastimir Jorjevic.

THE HAGUE, February 23 (Itar-Tass) - The international war crimes
tribunal for the former Yugoslavia on Wednesday is to pass a sentence on
former Yugoslav Deputy Minister of the Interior Vlastimil Jorjevic who
headed the public security department from June 1,1997, to January 30,
2001.
Jorjevic is charged with war crimes and crimes against humanity
committed in 1999 against Kosovo's ethnic Albanians.
Charges against Jorjevic include such counts as forcible relocations,
deportation, murders, expulsion of ethnic Albanian civilians from Kosovo,
as well as a "large-scale campaign of terror and violence against ethnic
Albanians".
Jorjevic was in hiding from international prosecution for four years
but was arrested on June 17, 2007, by Montenegrin authorities in the city
of Budva and handed over to the Hague tribunal. When he was first brought
before the Tribunal, he did not plead guilty on any point of indictiment.

.VEB ready to take part in financing JV of Sollers and Ford.

MOSCOW, February 23 (Itar-Tass) - Vneshekonombank (VEB) is prepared to
participate in financing a joint-venture (JV) enterprise of Sollers and
Ford automakers, VEB chief Vladimir Dmitriyev told journalists here on
Tuesday. "We are ready (for that)," he said.
Dmitriyev specified that the Bank so far "has no agreements (tohtis
efect with the two companies". He added that as soon as a financial model
of JV becomes clear, VEB would make a decision on that score.
Last week, the Russian automaker Sollers announced its withdrawal from
the agreement on the establishment of a JV with Fiat. Sollers also
announced that the automaker Ford would become Sollers' partner in place
of Fiat. The two companies have already filed an application for
participation in a new mode for the commercial assembly of automobiles.

.Russia marks Fatherland Defenders Day Wed.

MOSCOW, February 23 (Itar-Tass) - Russia marks the Fatherland
Defenders' Day on Wednesday. Unofficially, people regard the Defenders'
Day as a festive occasion for all men.
In 1922, February 23 was officially declared to be a Day of the
Workers' and Peasants' Red Army. Subsequently, it was marked in the Soviet
Union as a Day of the Soviet Army and Navy. In present-day Russia, the
date has acquired the significance of a day of the military glory of the
Russian Federation in accordance with the Federal law "On the Days of
Military Glory" and has been a dayoff since 2002.
Nowadays people in Russia pay a tribute of respect and recognition to
the service members, army and navy veterans, Afghan War veterans, and to
the families of those who have been or remain in the ranks.
On the eve of the holiday, the youth organizations of Moscow spruced
up the military cemeteries and commemorative landmarks in the Russian
capital and, together with veterans of the Great Patriotic War of
1941-1945, toured places associated with combat glory in the Moscow Region.
On the festive day, a 30-salvo salute is to be fired in the capital,
the cities of military glory and main administrative centers of Russia in
memory of the country's defenders who perished and and for the glory of
those who stay alive.
