Maritime police helicopter missing with 5 crew on board

(ATTN: ADDS details throughout)
SEOUL (Yonhap) - A maritime police helicopter went missing Wednesday as it flew over South Korea's southern resort island of Jeju, officials said.
The AW-139 helicopter took off from Jeju International Airport at 8:20 p.m. and picked up a female police officer who needed emergency medical assistance from a patrol ship stationed in waters west of the island. There were four other crew members on board.
The officials said that they lost contact with the chopper at around 8:50 p.m., about 10 minutes after its takeoff was reported to the command center.
Maritime police and coast guard officials said that they were scouring the area for any wreckage or trace of the missing helicopter.
The AW-139 helicopter, which was manufactured by Italy's AgustaWestland, was first deployed to Jeju on Monday, according to the officials.
