Cabinet hails Amir''s UAE-Oman conciliation initiative

KUWAIT (KUNA) - Kuwaiti Cabinet, chaired by His Highness the Prime Minister Sheikh Nasser Al-Mohammad Al-Ahmad Al-Sabah, held its weekly meeting Sunday at noon at Seif Palace.
Following the meeting, Minister of State for Cabinet Affairs Roudhan Abdulaziz Al-Roudhan said the Cabinet reviewed the outcomes of the brotherly visit paid by HH the Amir Sheikh Sabah Al-Ahmad Al-Jaber Al-Sabah to the United Arab Emirates and Sultanate of Oman, where HH the Amir led an initiative of reconciliation after meeting with UAE President Sheikh Khalifa Bin Zayed Al-Nahyan and Sultan of Oman Qaboos Bin Saeed in efforts to eradicate tensions that have blemished ties between the two brotherly countries, which resulted in desired outcomes. The initiative, Al-Roudhan noted, reflected HH the Amir's esteemed status among GCC leaders.
The Cabinet then reviewed a letter from Secretary General of the Organization of Islamic Conference (OIC) Prof. Ekmeleddin Ihsanoglu, which enclosed a request to support restoration of Islamic monuments in the Republic of Tatarstan of the Russian Federation, which were devastated and ruined due to wars.
The Cabinet also welcomed positive parliamentary reactions towards outcomes of the parliament-government committee meeting held last Thursday to discuss statuses of illegal residents in the country.
Pragmatic solutions and the roadmap adopted by the Cabinet and the Higher Council for Planning and Development in this regard are acclaimed, Al-Roudhan noted.
While praising steps taken by the cabinet's central body to address status of illegal residents in dealing with the problem, the Cabinet reaffirms Kuwait's keenness to deal with the issue with a humane and civilized manner.
In this regard, the Cabinet stressed that solutions adopted for this problem are on their way to be pu t in action just planned.
Finally, the Cabinet discussed political affairs in light of the reports made on the overall developments on Arab and international scenes.
