First Filipino Muslim School to Open in June

Doha, March 12 (QNA) - The Asian Integrated School (AIS), a project of the Doha-based Philippine Muslim Federation (PMF), will be Qatar s first Filipino Muslim school and the first of its kind in the Middle East.
The school, which is slated to open in June, will also be the third Filipino school in Qatar.
The 3,916sqm school facility - located at Ibn Nubata St in Al- Messila - will follow the curriculum of the Department of Education in the Philippines, integrated with Arabic and Islamic Studies, Qatari English-language newspaper "Qatar Tribune" reported Saturday.
The project is supported by five Filipino Muslim organisations in Qatar, united under Philippine Muslim Federation (PMF).
Talking to Qatar Tribune on Thursday, PMF official Mark Santos said that the new Filipino school in Doha was first conceptualised by the Filipino-Muslim community in Qatar in 2006.
The project also caters to the needs of Filipino- Muslim families who look for a school which will provide an Arabic orientation to their children.
He said that the new school facility is also open to non-Filipino and non- Muslim students.
"The Filipino community is currently among the top five expatriate communities in Qatar.
The AIS campus houses four school buildings. The main building is a two-storey facility with a roof deck, nearly attached with a covered sports hall.
It has 13 rooms for the classes (with a capacity of 20-25 students per room), laboratories and other offices like science laboratory, computer laboratory, home economics, industrial arts room, library and guidance office.
The school will adopt a state-of-theart teaching methods and best practices defined by its integrated academic programme of Arabic, Islamic Studies, with teachings of Singaporean Methods in Science and Mathematics and pre-school Montessori Method.
Qatari history will also be taught, as per the requirements of the Supreme Education Council. (QNA(
