S. Korea's OCI wins 336 bln won in polysilicon orders

SEOUL, March 18 (Yonhap) -- OCI Co., South Korea's leading maker of polysilicon, said Friday that it has received polysilicon orders worth 336 billion won (US$298 million) from a local firm and a Taiwanese company.
Under the 163 billion won deal with SKC Solmics Co. in South Korea, OCI will supply the material used in solar panels by 2018, the company said in a regulatory filing.
In a separate filing, OCI said it has clinched another deal valued at 173 billion won to provide the material by 2018 to Neo Solar Power Co. in Taiwan.
Shares of OCI closed at 428,500 won on the Seoul bourse, down 0.70 percent.
On Thursday, OCI also said it has won polysilicon orders worth 959 billion won from a Taiwanese firm and a Chinese firm. Last week, OCI also won a $506 million deal from Green Energy Technology Inc. of Taiwan.
OCI won around 1.3 trillion won worth of orders last month to supply polysilicon to customers, including China's Yingli Green Energy.
In December last year, OCI said it plans to spend 1.9 trillion won over the next two years to expand its polysilicon output by 27,000 tons, in order to meet growing demand.
After OCI completes the expansion of its plant in 2012, the company's annual capacity will rise to 62,000 tons, it said.
