MALAYSIA NEEDS MANY FOREIGN WORKERS THIS YEAR

Kuala Lumpur, Mar 31 (ANTARA) - Malaysia in 2011 may need about 150 thousand foreign workers in the formal sectors like construction, factories, plantations, serves and farming to support the country`s economic development.

"We hope 75 thousand or 50 pct of them could be provided by Indonesian migrant workers," manpower attache at the Indonesian embassy in Kuala Lumpur Agus Triyanto said here Wednesday.

He said they did not include the need of Malaysians for household administrators.

He said the Indonesian migrant workers (TKIs) wishing to enter the sector need to prepare their mental readiness for self-sufficiency, hard work according to the regulations of another country.

"They have to be prepared for overseas employment have special skills," he added.

Agus also said they need to have the necessary papers and documents.

In the meantime, in the last three months a number of companies in Malaysia have been seeking 26,600 TKIs for employment in the formal sector like plantations, factories, construction and services, but they managed to get only 6,000.
