Local, int'l organizations warn of using children in sit-ins

SANA'A (Saba) - Local and international organizations warned on Friday the use of children in the sit-ins
whether in pro-or anti-government rallies that took place in a number of governorates.
Chairman of Seyaj Organization for Childhood Protection Ahmed al-Qershi said that children have the right to express their opinions but not in this case.
Speaking to Saba, he said that the involvement of children in the sit-ins whether pro or anti government are unacceptable as it represents a major threat for their lives.
22 innocent children were killed in shooting since beginning of sit-ins across the counry so far, he added.
He called for all political parties to perceive their full responsibility towards children protection, calling judicial bodies to quickly arrest the accused in killing children
to take their punishment.
On the other hand, UNICEF and Shawthab Foundation for Childhood and Development warned the use of children in the protests, calling all partners to protect children in accordance
with the UN Convention on the Rights of the Child and Both international humanitarian law (IHL) and international human rights law (IHRL).
In addition, Shawthab Foundation for Childhood and Development warned the use of children under the age of 18 in exploiting them in sit-ins.
