CIS IPA panel to discuss counteraction to terrorism Wed

ST PETERSBURG, April 6 (Itar-Tass) - Matters concerning counteraction
to terrorism, extremism, trade in humans, and to the legalization of
criminal incomes, and corruption are to be discussed here on Wednesday by
the Joint Commission of the Commonwealth of Independent States (CIS)
Inter-Parliamentary Assembly (IPA) on harmonization of legislation on
action to combat terrorism, crime and drug trafficking.
Those present at the Commission's session at the Tauride Palace are
expected to consider draft recommendations for refinement of national
legislations in the field of information security and a draft commentary
on the CIS model legislation on action to combat trade in humans.
On Wednesday the Commission members are also to report work done on
draft changes to the model Criminal and Criminal Procedure Codes, and a
draft model law "On Anti-Corruption Expert Examination of Standard Legal
Acts" and commentaries on the model law " On Counteraction to Corruption".
Matters relating to measures to counteract the financing of terrorism
are to be touched upon during the presentation of reports on the
elaboration of a draft commentary on the model legislation of the CIS on
counteraction to the legalization ("laundering") of criminally obtained
incomes, and recommendations for refinement of the legislations of CIS
member-countries on action to fight the legalization of such incomes.
Representatives of the United Nations Office on Drugs Control and
Crime Prevention, law enforcement agencies of CIS countries, experts and
scientists of the specialized institutions of the Russian Academy of
Sciences and other research establishments, the Eurasian group for
counteraction to the legalization of criminal incomes and to the financing
of terrorism are to take part in the Commission's work.
