Yemen partakes in 1st session of IRENA in Abu Dhabi

ABU DHABI, April 06 (Saba)- Yemen has participated in the first session of the International Renewable Energy Agency (IRENA)
held in the UAE's capital, Abu Dhabi, during 4-5 April.
Yemen's delegation to the session was led by Yemen's ambassador to the UAE Abdullah al-Yafei.
The session approved rules of procedure of the General Assembly and the Council, as well as the administrative and financial systems and budget for 2011.
Members of the Council and Director-General of the IRENA were elected in the session, in addition to allocating a permanent seat at the Agency to the UAE ,because of its
pivotal role in the establishment of the Agency.
Moreover, the session discussed a number of reports on activities of the preparatory committee and the documentation committee.
Some delegations of the States, which have made great strides in the use of renewable energy, reviewed their experiences that mostly focused on the importance of using renewable
energy for sustainable development and clear infrastructure, especially for developing countries.
