Meeting of Presidents of Kazakhstan and Russia

Dushanbe, 29 August, (Khabar) - Nursultan Nazarbayev met Russian President
Dmitry Medvedev in Dushanbe to discuss a series of issues concerning the
countries' cooperation. The leaders said they were satisfied with the rates
and dynamics of bilateral relations and especially the growth of their trade
and economic cooperation links. Nursultan Nazarbayev invited Dmitry Medvedev
to take part in the Kazakh-Russian forum of the frontier territories
scheduled to take place in September, 2008 in Aktobe. Speaking of the
situation in South Ossetia, Nursultan Nazarbayev said Kazakhstan understands
Russia's peacemaking efforts in the region and is providing humanitarian aid
to South Ossetia. Dmitry Medvedev thanked his counterpart for the assistance
and expressed certitude that the current situation will be settled through
the rules and regulations of international law, the Kazakhstan presidential
press service reported.
