ABOUT FIRST MEETING OF MONGOLIAN DIPLOMATS IN EU

Ulaanbaatar, Mongolia, /MONTSAME/ The first consultative meeting ran April 4-5 in Brussels, Belgium, among diplomats in charge of trade and economic affairs of Mongolia's embassies in European Union's (EU) countries. This meeting has brought together diplomats of the embassies of Mongolia in the EU's countries, representatives of Mongolia's dipmission in Turkey and permanent representatives in Geneva, Switzerland.
The diplomats have got au fait with the EU's activities, present situation and trends, shared views and information on cooperating with the EU, developing a fruitful collaboration between the sides, improving working connections.
A Director-General of the International Wool Textile Organization (IWTO) Mr. Henrik Kuffner has given professional advice and information on improving a quality of the Mongolian cashmere and wool, exporting the products to EU, opportunity to make the unique Mongolian brand.
The diplomats have met officials from the Trade Department of the European Commission and external relations officials of Europe to agree on ways and principles of the mutual cooperation and to share views and information.
A head of the Foreign Ministry's Department of External and Economic Cooperation Mr. G.Jargalsaikhan has given to the European Commission official answers to package questions which were sent to the Mongolian side upon its request to withdraw Mongolia from the EU's list of Non-market economy countries.
The revised concept of foreign policy of Mongolia officially states that the EU is one of the Third neighbors of Mongolia. By the year 2010, Mongolia traded with 27 countries of the EU with some USD 520 million. In recent years, the EU has become the third biggest partner of Mongolia and the second largest partner in importing our products. Mongolia is exporting mainly cashmere, wool and knitted products to the EU's countries, whereas is importing from there machines, equipment, facilities and techniques.
