CONSULTATIVE MEETING TO BE HELD IN UB

Ulaanbaatar, Mongolia, /MONTSAME/ A high level policy meeting themed "Difficulties and obstacles faced to landlocked countries of Asia Pacific regions" will run April 12-14 in Ulaanbaatar. This meeting will bring together some 100 delegates from the region's landlocked countries, donor and partner countries and representatives of international organizations. Ministers and state secretaries of some countries will take part in the meeting as well.
The Prime Minister S.Batbold will give a speech the opening. Administrative officials of the related Ministry led by the Foreign Minister will attend the meeting. Moreover, the Executive Secretary of United Nations Economic and Social Commission for Asia and the Pacific (ESCAP) Mrs. Noeleen Heyzer will participate in the meeting.
At the upcoming meeting, the participants will consider implementation of an activity program issued by the Ministerial Meeting of Landlocked and Transit Countries held 2003 in Almaty, Kazakhstan. This program reflects basic five measures to improve the policy of transit transportation, to develop infrastructure such as auto transportation, to back external trade of landlocked countries, to render financial and technical assistance to the countries, and to monitor the program's realization. Thus, the consultative meeting will discuss achievements, obstacles and ways of overcoming them in these directions.
A document of Ulaanbaatar Declaration will be issued at the end of the meeting by reflecting basic matters and further goals and proposals.
