UN supports local or regional efforts to address Yemeni crisis

SANA'A (Saba) - The United Nations (UN) Secretary-General's Political Advisor Gamal bin Omar has confirmed
the UN's support for any local or regional efforts to address the Yemeni crisis.
In an interview with Saba, Omar said that the UN encourages the Yemeni parties to sit together to resolve the crisis internally and they are best able to address their own
problem.
He emphasized that there is a real crisis that should not continue, and at the same time there is a risk that this crisis produces security, economic, political and regional
repercussions.
Yemen is not the only country that has a crisis , but in all societies there are institutions and mechanisms to address such conflicts, he added.
The UN envoy stressed that the solution can only come from the Yemenis themselves, not from abroad and Yemen has an experience in this aspect.
He called on all parties to renounce violence by any part and respect human rights and freedom of expression.
The UN envoy concluded by saying, "I am optimistic about resolving the crisis and we can only remain optimistic and solidarity with Yemen in order to get out of this crisis.
