BRICS countries should deepen coop-Indian PM

SANYA, April 14 (Itar-Tass) -- The BRICS member countries should
deepen their cooperation for the purpose of effectively tackling global
problems in the political and economic spheres, as well as in the sphere
of energy security and climate changing, Indian Prime Minister Manmohan
Singh said here on Thursday at a joint press conference on the results of
the BRICS summit.
"India cordially welcomes South Africa's joining of BRIC. I am sure
South Africa's joining of this organisation will have a positive impact on
its development and on the consolidation of peace and stability on the
whole of the African continent," Manmohan Singh said. "The signing by the
BRICS countries of the framework agreement on financial cooperation within
the mechanism of inter-bank cooperation will consolidate partnership of
the BRICS countries in the currency sphere."
In his opinion, strategic relations of the BRICS countries are of much
importance in the current world situation, which is changing rapidly.
The Indian Prime Minister said that the BRICS countries should further
consolidate their cooperation within the framework of BRICS, the United
Nations Organisation and G20. Manmohan Singh thanked the BRICS member
countries, which supported his proposal on the holding of the next BRICS
summit in India in 2012.
