INT'L DAY OF COOPERATIVES TO BE MARKED
Ulaanbaatar, Mongolia, /MONTSAME/ The cabinet meeting on Wednesday approved an implementation plan on marking with this year the international day of cooperatives and creating a national committee led by Deputy Minister M.Enkhbold.
Another decicsion is that an international conference named “Creating perfect world by cooperative industries” will run May
3-6 in Ulaanbaatar.
Anticipating the international year of the cooperatives, the cabinet has obliged a Mayor of Ulaanbaatar city and governors of aimags to run actions that support the cooperatives and to allot money needed for them in provinces' budgets.
The 64th forum of UN General Assembly discussed an initiated by Mongolia resolution "Role of cooperative in social development” and then announced 2012 as the "International Year of Cooperatives".
In 2009, Mongolia's government approved a social-framed programme on developing cooperatives to increase jobs, boost small- and medium-sized business. The “Mongol livestock” programme has been implemented based on agricultural cooperatives. Over 170 thousand herders are to become the agricultural cooperatives nationwide.
