Doosan Heavy mulls takeover of German engineering firm

SEOUL, April 14 (Yonhap) -- Doosan Heavy Industries & Construction Co., South Korea's leading power equipment maker, said Thursday it is considering taking over a German engineering firm through its overseas unit.
In a regulatory filing, Doosan Heavy said it is mulling the takeover of AE&E Lentjes GmbH, a Germany-based firm for plant engineering and thermal power generation.
AE&E Lentjes was acquired in 2008 by AE&E, an Austrian energy group. But the engineering firm is now up for sale.
"We are reviewing the takeover of AE&E Lentjes, but nothing has been decided," Doosan Heavy said.
In January, Doosan Heavy took over AE&E Chennai Works, AE&E's Indian unit, for 21 million euros (US$30.5 million).
Shares of Doosan Heavy closed at 66,400 won ($61) on the Seoul bourse, up 1.22 percent from the previous session.
