Government names delegation's members for dialogue in Riyadh

SANA'A, April 14 (Saba) - The government has named members of the delegation for the dialogue to be held in Riyadh,
Saudi Arabia, next week under the Gulf Cooperation Council (GCC)'s initiative announced last Sunday, well-informed source said on Thursday.
The weekly 26 September was quoted the source as saying that the delegation includes high-ranking officials in the government and the ruling-party General People Congress
(GPC).
The move comes, while the Joint Meeting Parties (JMPs) is still refusing to deal positively with the initiative.
Last Monday, the presidency office welcomed efforts of the GCC States to address the current political impasse in Yemen, accenting readiness to respond with it affirmatively.
"We have briefed on the statement of the GCC countries' Foreign Ministers' meeting held in Riyadh on Sunday, April 10, and again Yemen's Presidency welcomes the efforts
of our brothers in the GCC's countries to contribute to tackle the current impasse in Yemen", a source presidency office said.
As repeatedly announced, President Ali Abdullah Saleh has got no reservation on a peaceful and smooth transfer of power under the constitution, the source said.
Moreover, the source expressed Yemen's appreciation to the GCC's countries for their serious keenness on unity, security and stability of Yemen.
According initiative, the GCC states invite the government of Yemen and the opposition parties to meet in Saudi Arabia under the umbrella of the GCC in order to overcome
the status quo, according to the following principles: - The solution that will result from this agreement shall lead to maintaining the unity, security and stability of
Yemen.
- The agreement shall meet the aspirations of the Yemeni people for change and reform.
- The transfer of power shall be carried out in a smooth and safe way saving Yemen from slipping into anarchy and violence within national consensus.
- All parties shall adhere to removing political and security elements of tension.
- All parties shall commit to ceasing all forms of retaliation and prosecution through guarantees and undertakings given for this purpose.
The executive steps the Yemeni government must take are: - The President of the Republic [of Yemen] shall announce the transfer of powers to the Vice President.
- A national unity government shall be formed under the chairmanship of the opposition and shall have the right to form specialized committees and councils to run the country
politically, military, and economically, as well as to draw up a constitution and hold elections.
