TEHRAN, April 19 (FNA)- A senior Iranian lawmaker stressed Tehran and Beijing's significant role in restoring peace and stability in the region after the recent social and political developments in the Middle-East and North of Africa.
"With regard to the recent developments in the Middle-East and North Africa, parliamentary cooperation between Iran and China plays a key role in restoring peace and stability in the region and serving the interests of the two nations," member of the parliament's Presiding Board Hossein Sobhaninia said in a meeting with Chen Zhili, vice chairperson of the Standing Committee of the National People's Congress of China in Tehran on Monday.

The Iranian lawmaker further stressed the Iranian parliament's support for promotion of Iran-China relation, particularly in parliamentary fields.

Sobhaninia, who is also the head of Iran-China Parliamentary Friendship Group, praised the growing mutual cooperation and noted, "The two countries enjoy great potential in oil and gas sectors which should be used to increase trade and economic exchanges."

The senior Chinese legislator, for her part, said Tehran and Beijing share "close" stance on regional and international issues and added no obstacle can prevent the expansion of relations between the two sides.
