MP: Zionist Plots Defused by Uprisings in Regional States

TEHRAN, April 21   (FNA)- An Iranian lawmaker on Wednesday underlined the Islamic nature of the recent popular uprisings in the region, and mentioned that these uprisings and revolutions have defused the Zionist regime's plans for establishing its position in the region.
"The recent moves by the Muslim nations in the Middle-East and their confrontation with puppet ruling systems derives from the human essence, logic and Islamic nature of these nations," Mohammad Karim Abedi said during an open session of the parliament here in Tehran on Wednesday.

He reminded Israel's weak commitment to peace accords and treaties in the region, and said the Zionist regime sought to work out peace with the regional states in a move to stabilize its position in the region, but the recent and current uprisings by the regional nations foiled this plot since protestors are opposed to the Israeli regime.

The regional nations "have risen against the arrogant powers, Zionism and oppression and tore apart the spider web of the Zionist regime's peace plots", Abedi stated.

In recent months, a wave of revolutions and anti-government uprisings has been sweeping the Arab world.

In January, a revolution in Tunisia ended the 23-year ruling of former President Zine El Abidine Ben Ali.

In February, another Arab revolution led to the ouster of former Egyptian President Hosni Mubarak after three decades of his authoritarian rule.

Other revolutions are erupting in Libya, Yemen and Bahrain, while other anti-government unrests have swept Saudi Arabia, Jordan, Oman, Kuwait and Algeria.
