STATE SECRETARY MEETS WITH JAMES STEINBERG

Ulaanbaatar, Mongolia, /MONTSAME/ In Washington D.C, the State Secretary of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs D.Tsogtbaatar met Wednesday with Mr. James Steinberg, a Deputy Secretary of State.
They have exchanged views on the Mongolia-USA relations and cooperation, including collaboration in a leadership of Mongolia in the Community of Democracies (CD) in 2011-2013.
The two have highlighted that the Mongolia-USA consultative meeting was successful held last month in Ulaanbaatar, and affirmed they have a mutual aspiration to implement some proposals of the U.S side for forwarding a level of the relations. They have shared views on high level mutual visits to be paid this year.
D.Tsogtbaatar has spoken about measures taken by the Mongolian side in conjunction with chairing the CD, and mentioned that Mongolia is working out an activity guideline in accordance with priority directions by accepting proposals from the participant countries. Mongolia's side has appreciated a reform of the CD, and underlined an importance of strengthening the community's Secretariat. Mr. James Steinberg has said he backs these matters.
Present at this meeting were Kh.Bekhbat, the Ambassador of Mongolia to the USA; Mr. Kurt M. Campbell, an Assistant Secretary of State for East Asian and Pacific Affairs, and others.
The same day, Tsogtbaatar met Lorne W. Craner, a president of the International Republican Institute (IRI), the ambassadors of Lithuania and Poland to the USA, also Bronislaw Misztal, an Executive Director of Permanent Secretariat of the Community of Democracies, and Ted Piccone, a senior fellow and deputy director for Foreign Policy at the Brookings Institute. Mr. Tsogtbaatar has introduced them to measures to be taken within an office term of Mongolia's leading the CD. He has expressed a willingness to raise reputation and responsibility of the community.
The parties have affirmed that goals will be supported to form the democracy's education and civil society institutions, and to strengthen the regional cooperation and democracy.
Tsogtbaatar has delivered a report themed “Investment environment in Mongolia” at the 21st meeting of the North America and Mongolian Business Council. This meeting has attracted some 80 representatives from the U.S. Department of Commerce, the Trade Commission of Canada, and U.S and Canada's private sector and NGOs.
