N. Korea willing to hold nuclear talks with S. Korea: Carter

SEOUL, April 28 (Yonhap) -- North Korea has expressed a willingness to hold denuclearization and military talks with South Korea even "at the highest level possible," former U.S. President Jimmy Carter said Thursday following a three-day visit to the communist state.
"They are very willing to discuss nuclear issues and any other military issues directly with South Korea, including at the highest possible level" between North Korean leader Kim Jong-il and South Korean President Lee Myung-bak, Carter said in a press conference.
The comments came amid a looming prospect that the North would propose holding the first-ever meeting of the nuclear envoys of the two Koreas as part of a series of steps to revive six-party talks.
