IMPROVEMENT AWATS HIGHER EDUCATION

Ulaanbaatar, Mongolia, /MONTSAME/ The Cabinet meeting on Wednesday backed in principle a "Higher education reform's project" that will be concluded between Mongolia's Government and the Asia development bank (ADB) and decided to submit it to related Standing comittee for agreement.
If the committee gives a support, the Premier will issue an ordinance about giving a right to sign the Credit agreement.
The project consists of three parts--higher education programmes quality improvement, higher education governance, management and financing improvement, and equality and access improvement.
Within the project, recommendation on higher education's reform policy will be formulated, training programmes will be renovated, environment and equipment will be refined, teachers and educators will be bound to adhere national assessment standards, and provinces universities' capability will go up.
The project will run up to November 30, 2016 spending 20 million US dollar where the ADB is to give 90 percent and the Government the rest. A term is 32 years. First eight years will be exempted from basic payment with interest of one percent a year, in other times 1,5 percent.
