PRESIDENT OF MONGOLIA CONGRATULATES JACK WEATHERFORD

Ulaanbaatar, Mongolia, /MONTSAME/ In relation to the victory of "Genghis Khan and the Making of the Modern World" in annual audio book tournament of "www.audible.com" that collaborates with "www.amazon.com", Mongolia's President Tsakhia Elbegdorj has congratulated its author Jack Weatherford.
"Congratulations that Your book 'Genghis khan and the Making of the Modern World' won the championship of the fourth annual tournament of audio books by readers' votes. We, the Mongolians, appreciate that Your book on the historical deeds and cultural heritage of the Mongolians and the role of the Great Mongolian State for global history has become significant to advertise and spread accurate information on Mongolian history and culture to the world.
The success of the book, which is based on historical facts and scientific studies and written in a literary style, makes not only Mongolians but also human beings feel the importance of studying history. I wish You great success for Your further research and writing," the letter says.
In response, Prof.Weatherford wrote April 28,"Thank you Mongolia! The Mongolian people stand today at the start of a great era of economic and social change. Life is changing quickly every day for people throughout the country. Mongolia has become a part of the global world economy and has an important role to play in the near future.
Now, in 2011 we are in the 805 year of the Mongolia nation as well as the 2,220th anniversary of the found of the Hunnu state and 100 years of Mongolian independence from the Manchu Empire. This is a time of great historical anniversaries, but to prepare for the future we need to understand our past. We must know where we came from in order to know where we are going.
When my book on Chinggis Khaan was selected by readers to be in the 2011 Book Tournament, I was surprised because the book is already seven years old and most of the other books were new. However, the Mongolian people began to vote for the book, and suddenly I realized the power of a very small nation when they are united and speak with one voice.
The modern age of the Internet gives a chance for young Mongolians to make their opinions known in the world, and now it is time for me to retire and let them write the history of Mongolia. The future belongs to you, the Youth of Mongolia.
May the Eternal Blue Sky forever bless the Great Mongol Nation of Chinggis Khaan."
