Our German friends should stave off racist slogans against Turks living in Germany, says Arinc

MANNHEIM (A.A) - 30.04.2011 - Turkish State Minister and Deputy Premier Bulent Arinc said Saturday that "Germans should stave off racist slogans against Turks living in Germany".
Bulent Arinc attended the inauguration of the Maimarkt Fair in German city of Mannheim on Saturday and addressed the Germans at the fair.
As the (Turkish) state, we wish for our nationals to integrate by preserving their identities and we extend all kinds of support for this. We expect the German society to assist the Turks in this issue, Arinc said.
Reminding about the recent racist slogans against the Turks living in Germany, Arinc said that "our German friends should stave off racist slogans against Turks living in Germany".
Turks living in Germany have full trust in the Germans against racist slogans. We have full faith that you will take the necessary steps against racist slogans in Germany, Arinc stressed.
The contribution of Turks, who have arrived in Germany 50 years ago, to make Germany one of the greatest economies of the world is clear. Today's Germany is a masterpiece of the Germans and the three million Turks who live here. In every square meter of Germany, the works of the Turks are evident, Arinc said.
Germany and Turkey, as two strong states who are highly influential in global politics, should further strengthen their cooperation, Arinc underlined.
Thanks to serious reforms made, Turkey has become an attractive center for direct investments. I invite more German entrepreneurs and companies to make investments in Turkey, Arinc said.
Turks living in Germany love Germany as much as they do Turkey. We are planning giant events to celebrate the 50th year of Turks' arrival in Germany and Europe, Arinc said.
Fairs like the one in Mannheim today are crucial as they open new doors of opportunities for both countries. What holds an economy on its feet is the entrepreneurship of the business community, Arinc also said.
Mayor of Mannheim Peter Kurtz, in his part, said that Turks living in Germany were a part of the country.
Turks living in Germany are an important bridge between our two countries, Kurtz said.
26 Turkish companies are attending the Maimarkt Fair.
