Lee calls for removing 'blind areas' of welfare system
SEOUL, May 2 (Yonhap) -- President Lee Myung-bak instructed officials Monday to pay greater attention to caring for needy people who are ineligible for the state welfare system for technical and other reasons, the presidential spokeswoman said.
"In our society, there are people who are left unattended in the blind areas of the welfare system because their place of residence is unclear or for other reasons," Lee said at a meeting with senior secretaries, according to presidential spokeswoman Kim Hee-jung.
Lee said the government should launch an all-out inspection to identify such people and to provide them with better state care, according to the spokeswoman.
