CMC General Secretary Lauds Amendments to Municipal Council

Doha, May 01 (QNA) - The General Secretary of the Central Municipal Council (CMC) Abdul Aziz Al Ahmad has lauded the amendments to a law on the municipal council, saying that the law will be implemented during the fourth session of CMC and will have a great impact on the work of the council as well as meet the demands of its members.
Speaking during "Decision is Yours" program on Qatar TV, Al Ahmad said the new law has earmarked a separate budget for the Council as well as provided it with new terms of reference and allowed it to sign agreements with Arab countries in coordination with the ministry, among other issues.
Al Ahmad also hailed the decision that raised the minimum age for candidates to 30 years.
He denied that the Minister of Municipality and Urban Planning had reject any recommendations referred by the CMC, adding that the Minister had approved 60 percent of the CMC's recommendations while the remaining ones are in progress. (QNA)
