Lee arrives in Paris on last leg of European tour

(LEAD)PARIS, May 12 (Yonhap) -- South Korean President Lee Myung-bak arrived in Paris on Thursday for talks with French President Nicolas Sarkozy expected to focus on ways to expand trade and investment as well as cooperation in the framework of the Group of 20 forum.
Paris is the last leg of Lee's week-long tour that already took him to Denmark and Germany.
Key topics for Lee's summit with Sarkozy, set for Friday, are expected to include increasing trade and investment between the two countries as well as setting the agenda for this year's summit of the Group of 20 major economies.
Seoul hosted a G-20 summit in November last year and Paris is scheduled to host this year's meeting in Cannes in November, and Lee and Sarkozy are expected to discuss ways to make this year's summit a success.
The two leaders are also expected to discuss North Korea and the international standoff over its nuclear programs as France is one of the five permanent members of the U.N. Security Council. South Korea has sought to get the Security Council to take up the issue of Pyongyang's uranium enrichment program as a violation of U.N. resolutions.
Aerospace and defense industry cooperation could also be on the table. France is a leader in the world's aerospace industry, and French firm Eurocopter helped South Korea develop the Korean utility helicopter Surion.
First lady Kim Yoon-ok will meet separately with France's first lady, Carla Bruni-Sarkozy.
The three-day trip to Paris also includes a dinner reception to be hosted by French Prime Minister Francois Fillon, a forum of South Korean and French business representatives, a meeting with French scholars and a visit to the University of Paris 7.
Lee also plans to hold talks with Angel Gurria, secretary-general of the Organization for Economic Cooperation and Development, and UNESCO Director-General Irina Bokova. and Lee and Sarkozy are expected to discuss ways to make this year's summit a success.
