Turkey hosts conference on revaluation of security in South Caucasus

Baku (AzerTAc) - Heydar Aliyev Foundation`s office in Turkey and Uludag University in Bursa co-organized a conference entitled “Revaluation of security in the South Caucasus and Turkey- Azerbaijan relations”.
The conference featured a meeting themed around “Economic policy in the South Caucasus” chaired by head of Heydar Aliyev Foundation`s office in Turkey Samir Jafarov.
Professor of Dubai School of Government in United Arab Emirates (UAE) Dale D. Murphy, director of the Business Academy in Georgia, pr. Kakhaber Eradze and professor of Sakarya University in Turkey Aladdin Yalcinkaya made speeches at the meeting. The speakers provided insight into importance of energy projects implemented in the region and progress achieved in development of communication and infrastructure.
They stressed that economic progress in the region is dogged by complicated political situation, frozen conflicts, instability and Armenia`s territorial claims against its neighbors. The speakers said the expansionist policy based on ethnic separatism prevents from getting good outturn, notwithstanding TRACECA program and other projects carried out by the Organization of the Black Sea Economic Cooperation (BSEC), Georgia-Ukraine-Azerbaijan-Moldova, international economic organization, (GUAM) and the Economic Cooperation Organization (ECO).
Debates on bilateral relations in the South Caucasus involved professor of the Yeditepe University Mesut Casin, Azerbaijani Consul in Turkey Ismat Gozalov, lecturer of the Baku State University Boran Aziz Orduhan and lecturer of the Uludag University Baris Ozdal. The speakers informed on the problems with Armenia in the context of Turkey-Azerbaijan relations.
