Representatives of Azerbaijani Ombudsman`s Office attend conference on human trafficking

Baku, May 24 (AzerTAc). Representatives of the Azerbaijani Ombudsman`s Office participated in a regional conference on building partnerships to combat human trafficking and forced labour..
The conference was organized as a part of the “Strengthening of comprehensive anti-trafficking responses in Armenia, Azerbaijan, and Georgia” project. The 24-month project (May 2009 - May 2011) is funded by the European Commission and implemented by International Labour Organisation (ILO) in partnership with International Centre for Migration Policy Development (ICMPD), International Organization for Migration (IOM) and OSCE. The project aims at supporting the development of the national institutional frameworks in the respective countries to address trafficking in human beings and their practical implementation including victim-centered research, National Action Plan evaluation, monitoring mechanisms and mechanisms for data gathering and management.
The participants discussed strengthening fight against human trafficking and forced labour.
Azeri representatives briefed the participants on the activity of Azerbaijani Ombudsman`s Office and progress achieved in the relevant sphere in Azerbaijan.
