Kyla, mum farewelled at Gold Coast funeral

SYDNEY (AAP) - May 26 - A five-year-old "fairy princess" and her mother, victims of a murder-suicide that also ended two others' lives, have been laid to rest on the Gold Coast.
Hundreds of mourners filled the Gold Coast Christian Family Church, united in grief at the funeral of little Kyla Rogers and her 31-year-old mother Tania Simpson.
Kyla was found dead alongside her father, Paul Rogers, in a car near Casino in northern NSW last week.
Her mother and family friend Anthony Way, 33, had been found dead in a unit at Robina on the Gold Coast earlier the same day.
Police believe Rogers stabbed Mr Way and Ms Simpson to death before abducting Kyla and taking her to northern NSW, where they died together from carbon monoxide poisoning in his car.
Kyla's toddler brother escaped the tragedy as he was staying with his grandparents.
In his eulogy, Ms Simpson's younger brother, Ben, was quoted in the Courier-Mail as describing her as "always thoughtful, sensitive, honest, reliable ... always caring and forever beautiful".
Mr Simpson said Kyla was the family's little princess who was already demonstrating many of her mother's beautiful characteristics of sensitivity, love and fun.
He read out Kyla's Mother's Day card, written to her mum just a few weeks ago.
The Reverend Russell Knight told mourners "it's a stark reminder that this is a very real and sad situation, unnecessary and tragic".
But the day was to celebrate the lives of Kyla and her mum, Mr Knight said.
After the service, family and friends emerged, to stand in silence as two columns of shiny pink balloons and two white coffins were placed inside hearses and driven away for a private burial.
