N. Korea: S. Korea proposed inter-Korean summits during secret meeting

SEOUL, June 1 (Yonhap) -- North Korea said Wednesday that South Korea had proposed three rounds of summit talks with the communist nation amid the impasse in their long-strained relations.
The North's National Defense Commission claimed that the South proposed holding summit meetings in late June, August and March next year as well as minister-level preparatory talks when the two sides met secretly on May 9, according to Pyongyang's Korean Central News Agency.
During the meeting, the South "begged" for the North's apology for last year's two deadly attacks on the South that have badly frayed cross-border relations, the North claimed. Pyongyang rejected the demand, it said.
Comments from South Korean officials were not immediately available.
