Book on Korean War published in Britain: author

SEOUL, June 1 (Yonhap) -- A book that sheds light on the triumphs and troubles of British and Australian troops in the Korean War was published in Britain this week, its author said Wednesday.
Andrew Salmon, a South Korea-based correspondent for The Washington Times who also freelances for Yonhap News Agency, said he wrote "Scorched Earth, Black Snow" after being fascinated with the 1950-53 war that ended in a cease-fire between the two Koreas.
The book, Salmon's second on the war, focuses on battles involving British and Australian troops in the early stages of the conflict that also drew the United States and China among others, he said.
"After writing the first book, I've been absolutely fascinated with the war," Salmon, a British citizen, said, adding his book also focuses on the political maneuvers of the major powers during the war.
