PRESIDENT MEETS CHAIRMAN OF STATE DUMA

Ulaanbaatar, Mongolia, /MONTSAME/ The President of Mongolia Ts.Elbegdorj has met a chairman of the State Duma of Russian Federation B.V.Gryzlov.
Mr. Elbegdorj has thanked Russia for the warm welcome, and Mr. Gryzlov congratulated him on successful visit.
Gryzlov has said that the two countries' relationship and cooperation have reached a high-level, and the same is applied to the inter-parliamentary ties. Two parliaments have been working closely, their groups initiate many works, and the Russian MPs will visit Mongolia soon, he said.
The last year, the two countries' turnover reached one billion 2 million US dollars, which may positively influence the infrastructure projects, for example, in new railway sphere, he said.
Today, some 1,200 Mongolian students are studying in Russia, and "I do not doubt that both our cabinet and the Mongolian youth will try to increase this number,” he said.
In response, Mr. Elbegdorj has said that traditional friendly relationship has reached at strategic partnership level, that Mongolia is marking this year many historical anniversaries.
"New times demand frorm us a solution of new economic issues. Despite a maintained trade turnover in recent years, there is no balance for the Mongolian side, so we are researching ways of reaching a a free trade agreement with Russia," he said.
Noting that a regional cooperation is important for the relations, and that a related cooperation plan has been approved for 2011-2012, opportunities of this kind of the cooperation may boost Mongolia's export to Russia, the President has said.
The sides have expressed a mutual hope that these issues are to be implemented successfully.
