Baku hosts presentation of 15th Turkish world service award


Baku, June 2 (AzerTAc). The Foundation of Turkish World Writers and Artists (TURKSAV) held a presentation of the 15th Turkish world service award in Azerbaijan`s capital on Wednesday.
Participants commemorated national leader of Azerbaijan Heydar Aliyev and Mustafa Kemal Ataturk.
Addressing the event, head of TURKSAV Yahya Akengin provided information on Turkish world culture, history of the award, common culture and art of Azerbaijan and Turkey, prominent figures of both countries. Yahya Akdeniz stressed the necessity to educate world community on Azerbaijani tragedies touching upon Armenia-Azerbaijan, Nagorno Karabakh conflict.
Head of TURKSAV said that Azerbaijan`s first lady, President of the Heydar Aliyev Foundation, UNESCO and ISESCO Goodwill Ambassador Mehriban Aliyeva has been honored with the “Service to the Turkish world” award. He underlined Mehriban Aliyeva was honored for the Heydar Aliyev Foundation`s humanitarian programs for refugees and IDPs from the Armenia-occupied lands, as well as for her contribution to preserving and promoting tangible and intangible cultural heritage of Azerbaijani Turks.
The award was given to Turkish ambassador to Azerbaijan Hulusi Kilic, as the first lady was away on foreign trip.
Turkish ambassador to Azerbaijan Hulusi Kilic noted the necessity of the 15th Turkish world service award stressing the friendly and fraternal relations between Azerbaijan and Turkey. Hulusi Kilic underlined that Turkey would not open its borders with Armenia until Nagorno Karabakh conflict is solved.
The Turkish world service award was presented to Yucel Feyzioglu from Germany, professor-doctor Dosay Kencetay from Kazakhstan, Mustafa Gokceoglu from North Cyprus, professor-doctor Edit Tasnadi from Hungary, head of Turkish Language Association Sukru Haluk Akalin, Ali Ihsan Kolcu, Cingiz Alyilmaz, Union of Architects and Engineers, “New Voice” (“Yeni Ses”) newspaper from Turkey.
The presentation brought together Azeri prominent socio-political figures, representatives of literature, art and mass media.
