Azeri FM meets permanent representatives of Asian countries to UN
Baku, June 2 (AzerTAc). Azerbaijani Foreign Minister Elmar Mammadyarov has met with permanent representatives of Asian countries to the United Nations (UN) on Wednesday as a part of his visit to USA.
Mammadyarov noted Azerbaijan put forward its candidacy for a non-permanent seat in the UN Security Council for the 2012-2013 terms. The Minister let the representatives know about advantages of Azerbaijan`s membership bid.
The Azeri FM called on the representatives of Asian countries to UN to support Azerbaijan`s bid.
Azerbaijan`s role in the development of cooperation in the region, as well as in realization of energy and transportation projects were noted in the meeting. The speakers underlined Azerbaijan`s contribution to inter-civilization dialogue.
Mammadyarov briefed the representatives on the negotiations process to settle Armenia-Azerbaijan, Nagorno Karabakh conflict.
The Azeri FM expressed regret over the fact that Armenia doesn`t honor UN Security Council`s four resolutions on unconditional withdrawal of the Armenian armed forces from the occupied territories of Azerbaijan.
