Leader appoints members of High Council of Cultural Revolution

TEHRAN, June 8 (MNA) – Supreme Leader of the Islamic Revolution Ayatollah Seyyed Ali Khamenei issued a decree on Tuesday appointing the members of the High Council of the Cultural Revolution for a new term.

The Leader has appointed the heads of three branches of the government, the culture and Islamic guidance minister, the sports and youth minister, the science, research, and technology minister, and some other legal entities as the members of the council.

Mohammad Reza Aref, a former first vice-president under the Mohammad Khatami administration, Majlis Speaker Ali Larijani, former Majlis speaker Gholam-Ali Haddad-Adel, and former foreign minister Ali Akbar Velayati are among the political figures appointed to the council.

The Leader has also chosen Chairman of the Guardian Council Ayatollah Ahmad Jannati and Academy of the Persian Language and Literature director Hassan Habibi as the honorary members of the council.

Mir-Hossein Mousavi and Iraj Fazel, the former health minister under the presidency of Ayatollah Akbar Hashemi Rafsanjani, have been removed from the council.

Alireza Erafi and Hamid Parsania have been appointed to the council for the first time.
