SOCAR president meets Georgian Minister of Energy and Natural Resources

Baku, June 8 (AzerTAC). Rovnaq Abdullayev, President of Azerbaijan`s state oil firm (SOCAR), met Georgian Minister of Energy and Natural Resources, Alexander Khetaguri, on Tuesday.
Abdullayev praised the Azerbaijan-Georgia relations, saying the two countries enjoyed “close ties” in political, economic, scientific and cultural spheres. He highlighted Azerbaijan`s achievements in oil and gas industry, and stressed the importance of regional energy projects.
Khetaguri praised SOCAR`s activity in Georgia.
“SOCAR opened over 70 filling stations in Georgia and it demonstrates the existence of close partnership between Azerbaijan and Georgia.”
He also praised activity of SOCAR`s Kulevi Black Sea Terminal in Georgia, stressing the facility`s role in the country`s economic development.
The Georgian Minister said his country was interested in deepening the energy cooperation with Azerbaijan.
They also exchanged views on AGRI project, which envisages transporting Azerbaijani gas by pipeline to Georgia`s Black Sea coast, and delivering the re-gasified product into Romania`s pipeline system and onward to EU territory.
