Azerbaijani carpets on display in Washington
Stand of Azerbaijani carpets were presented for the first time in the annual festival organized by US Textile Museum since 1978 in Washington.
The stand, which was initiated by the Karabakh Foundation in US, featured information on main national carpets schools of Azerbaijan, texturing styles, role of carpets in Azeri culture and other issues in the 33rd Outdoor Festival entitled “Triumph of textile”.
Performances of Azeri mugham and national dances aroused interest in the festival.
Founder of the American Mugham Center Jeffrey Werbock informed participants on the history of Azerbaijani carpets.
Executive Director of the Karabakh Foundation in US Diana Cohen Altman said that different events are holding on the popularizing of Azerbaijani carpets in US. She stressed also a lecture was delivered on the history of Azerbaijani carpets in Washington.
