N. Korea to hold local elections next month
SEOUL, June 14 (Yonhap) -- North Korea will hold elections next month for deputies to local people's assemblies, the country's official news agency said Tuesday.
"Elections for deputies to provincial, city and county people's assemblies will take place in the (North) on July 24," the Korean Central News Agency said in a brief dispatch.
Local people's assemblies typically meet once or twice a year to discuss local budgets and law enforcement measures.
