Mutlag, American, Egyptian ambassadors discuss relations

Baghdad (NINA) - Deputy Prime Minister Salih Al Mutlag and U.S. Ambassador James Jeffrey and his accompanying delegation discussed political and security scenes in light of the crises between the parliament blocs, and the approaching of the withdrawal of US military forces from the country.

A statement from the Mutlag office today said "the Deputy Prime Minister met the U.S. delegation, and focused on the importance of unifying the stances to serve the best interests of the Iraqi people and the obligation of the blocs and political parties to the covenants written within the agreements that led to the formation of the government of national partnership."

The statement said that the two sides discussed some items of the strategic framework agreement concluded between Iraq and the United States to achieve the interest in the areas of economy, science and services, noting that the U.S. ambassador stressed his country's position in support of the Iraqi people.

On the other hand, Al Mutlag discussed relations between Iraq and Egypt, during his meeting with the Egyptian Ambassador Sharif Shaheen, stressing Iraq's position in support of Egypt.
