PRESIDENT VISITS STANFORD UNIVERSITY

Ulaanbaatar, Mongolia, /MONTSAME/ Paying the official visit to the USA, the President Ts.Elbegdorj visited Wednesday the Stanford University and held a round table meeting with scholars and researchers.
The Stanford University bears two hospitals and several research centers, is financed from its donors, its annual activity expense reaches 4 billion US Dollars. “Some of parts of the expenses are devoted for the scholarships. Opportunity of taking the scholarships is more open for master and doctor degree candidates majoring in engineering, technologies and law,” the University's president Mr. John LeRoy Hennessy has said.
Then the State Head has exchanged views with him on the Mongolia-USA cooperation in the education sphere and on having the Mongolian students studied in the University.
“Mongolia has been attracting the world by its mineral resources, we have begun implementing projects on putting these resources into economic circulation and exploiting them,” Ts.Elbegdorj has stressed, adding Mongolia has great opportunity to make investments to the education and human development.
“First step has been made to train our student in the outstanding universities, to exchange scientists and instructors and experiences. A governmental program has been implemented to train students in the world's top-20 universities with scholarships,” he went on.
The President has requested the University's authorities to give the Mongolians scholarships.
Mr. Hennessy has appreciated the request.
