Eurasian states can rein in galloping power of hegemons: Ahmadinejad

TEHRAN, June 18 (MNA) -- Iranian President Mahmoud Ahmadinejad has said that the Eurasian countries have the potential to bring the galloping power of the global hegemonistic system under control through cooperation.

Ahmadinejad made the remarks during an address to the 10th summit of the Shanghai Cooperation Organization (SCO), which was held in Astana, Kazakhstan, on Wednesday.

The Eurasian countries are able to promote a new world order based on justice and peace and “maintain a tight rein on the galloping power of the hegemonistic system” if they work hand in hand, Ahmadinejad stated.

Elsewhere in his speech, Ahmadinejad said, “We can… bring peace back to the world.”

Ahmadinejad also said that the colonialist states are to blame for the chaos reigning in the management of the world’s affairs.

The Iranian president added that the future belongs to the governments who make historic decisions through reliance on people.

He also said that the colonialist powers have taken advantage of popular slogans like democracy, freedom, and human rights in order to put pressure on other countries.

Inaction on the expansionistic and aggressive policies adopted by certain countries will only exacerbate the situation, Ahmadinejad concluded.
