‘West seeking separation of Iran and Syria’
TEHRAN, June 18 (MNA) – Former deputy speaker of the Lebanese Parliament Eli Ferzli has said that the United States and its Western allies are trying to “separate Iran and Syria”.
The Lebanese politician made the remarks during a recent meeting with Iranian ambassador to Lebanon Ghazanfar Roknabadi.
Ferzli pointed to the plots hatched against the Syrian government and said, “The main aim of the West and the U.S. is to separate Iran and Syria.”
“They had put pressure on Syria in the past, but Syria managed to come through difficult and dangerous stages and stood up to the pressures, and this time Syria will again survive hard times,” he noted.
Elsewhere in his remarks, he praised Iran for expanding its cooperation with China, saying that the U.S. is trying to hinder the economic growth of China, so the enhancement of ties between Iran and China is a necessary measure.
Roknabadi also welcomed the formation of the new government in Lebanon and said Iran is ready to increase its cooperation with Lebanon.
