S. Korean swimmer Park wins third event at Santa Clara Int'l Grand Prix

SEOUL, June 19 (Yonhap) -- South Korean swimmer Park Tae-hwan won the men's 200-meter freestyle event on Sunday (Korean time) at the Santa Clara International Grand Prix in California, following his victories in the 100-meter and 400-meter freestyle races on the previous day.
In the 200-meter event held at the George Haines International Swim Center, Park set a new meet record of 1:45:92, nearly three seconds faster than the runner-up, Ryan Napoleon of Australia, who clocked in at 1:44:71.
On Saturday, Park defeated American great Michael Phelps and finished first in the men's 100-meter freestyle final with a record time of 48.92 seconds.
Phelps touched in 49.61 seconds while Graeme Moore of the United States came in third at 49.70 seconds.
Seoul swimming officials have said the race will be Park's tune-up meet before the FINA World Aquatics Championships in July in Shanghai, China. Park's time, however, was only 0.22 seconds behind his personal record of 48.70 seconds set at last year's Guangzhou Asian Games.
In the men's 400-meter freestyle final, too, Park won with a comfortable victory, touching in 3 minutes and 44.99 seconds.
He was more than five seconds faster than the runner-up, Canada's Ryan Cochrane.
