Maliki expresses resentment for rehab of GZ, neglecting poor areas in Baghdad

Baghdad (NINA) – Prime Minister Nouri Al Maliki expressed his resentment for rehabilitation of the Green Zone and neglecting the poor areas in Baghdad, directing the Baghdad Municipality to rehab poor areas in Baghdad.

In a meeting with managers of independent commissions today, present by Baghdad Mayor, Sabir Al Isawi, Maliki said “I feel annoyed when I see the GZ is being rehabilitated while the poor areas in Baghdad are not, the official who rehabs something near his house should fear from Allah and look at the poor needs.”

He added “we do not want a zone of poor in Baghdad, as there is in most world cities; we have allocated a budget to build residential units for the slums people.”

“Rehab of sewage and garbage recycling is much more important than beautification the cities,” he concluded. /End/
