Communist candidate Dodon leading in Chisinau mayoral elections

CHISINAU, June 20 (Itar-Tass) -- A candidate from the opposition
Communist Party Igor Dodon is leading in the second round of the Chisinau
mayoral elections. According to the preliminary results of the Central
Elections Commission, after 22% of ballot papers are counted Dodon gained
51% of votes and a candidate from the Liberal Party Dorin Chirtoaca got
48.7%.
"The preliminary election results will be made public on Monday
morning at most, because the amount of work will be smaller than that
after the first round," chairman of the Central Elections Commission Iurie
Ciocan pledged. He noted that the voting was held with any major
violations.
The chiefs of city and rural authorities are elected in 512
settlements in the second round of the local elections.
