Communist candidate leading with slight margin at Chisinau polls

CHISINAU, June 20 (Itar-Tass) -- A candidate from the opposition
Communist Party Igor Dodon is leading with a slight margin at the Chisinau
mayoral elections after 89% of votes were counted. According to the
preliminary reports of the Central Elections Commission, Dodon gained
50.15% of votes. This is about 0.3% higher than 49.85% that incumbent
Chisinau Mayor Dorin Chirtoaca has.
CEC Chairman Iurie Ciocan recalled that the latest results are
preliminary. He noted that the full preliminary results will not be make
public overnight to Monday. "We will make public the preliminary results
from all polling stations only by Monday afternoon," Ciocan said. He
recalled that the official elections results will be summed up after the
CEC receives the original protocols from the district election committees.
