Leader of Libyan Transitional Council to visit China

BEIJING, June 20 (Itar-Tass) -- Head of the Executive Committee of the
Libyan Transitional Council Mahmoud Jibril will visit China on June 21-22,
spokesman for the Chinese Foreign Ministry Hong Lei said at a press
conference here on Monday.
He didn't specify the visit agenda of one of the leaders of the Libyan
opposition, however, Jibril's arrival in Beijing testifies to China's
striving to play a more active role in mediating efforts to settle the
conflict in Libya.
According to the results of the visit of Chinese President Hu Jintao
to Moscow and his talks Russian President Dmitry Medvedev, the sides
stated their intention to continue promoting to the utmost the speediest
solution of the problems through joint efforts at the UN Security Council
and their support of the African Union's efforts on the internal Libyan
conflict.
