Mutlag, U.S. Institute of Peace discuss Iraqi-US relations


Baghdad (NINA) - Deputy Premier Salih Al Mutlag discussed with a delegation from the U.S. Institute of Peace, headed by Ambassador, William Taylor, shape and future of relations between the peoples of Iraq and the U.S. in light of the approaching date for the withdrawal of U.S. troops from Iraq.

A statement issued by Al Mutlag‘s office quoted him as stressing "the importance that the relations between the institutions of civil society in Baghdad and Washington take another shape coping with the principles of world peace and security."

The statement noted that "Taylor expressed the Institution’s willingness to host and train of Iraqi staffers for the purpose of increasing the technical and administrative expertise."

The statement said that Mutlag met another delegation representing the Chamber of Industry and Trade of Turkey in the presence of the Turkish ambassador in Iraq, Murat Aozgelk. He congratulated the Turkish people and the Turkish Prime Minister Recep Tayyip Erdogan on his winning in recent parliamentary elections.

The statement added that Mutlag called on Turkish businesses to intensify their presence in Iraq and expand the horizons of cooperation and exchange of delegations of industrialists and businessmen in order to achieve mutual benefit between Iraq and Turkey. /End/
