Maliki receives IFA, expresses willingness to support it, maintain its independence



Baghdad (NINA) – Prime Minister Nouri Al Maliki congratulated Chairman and members of the Iraqi Football Association, the winner in the last election that took place in Baghdad.

A statement issued by Maliki’s office quoted him as saying, during a meeting with chairman of IFA Najih Hammoud and his two deputies and members of IFA, "it is important that we win for Iraq and benefit of sport of Iraq, football in particular, as a unifying activity and a means to bring the parties together, we are ready to support the IFA and maintaining its independence."

For his part, Hamoud said, according to the statement, "I thank you for your interest and concern and for being the first supportive to set up elections, which was a message for everyone and the winner is Iraq and football."

The statement noted that during the meeting, administrative issues, financial, projects and the needs of the Iraqi clubs were discussed. /End/
